Bank of Palestine Supports the 15th Edition of the PalMUN United Nations Model Conference

Bank of Palestine, the strategic partner of the Palestine Model United Nations Conference (PalMUN), supported the launch of the program’s 15th edition during an event held at the Ramallah Cultural Palace, organized by Friends School.

This year’s conference was held under the theme “Documenting the truth is not merely a phrase, but a responsibility,” with the participation of more than 800 students from 18 schools across various governorates of Palestine, aged between 13 and 17. The conference aimed to promote constructive thinking through the diversity of opinions, enhance dialogue, narrow differences, and help prepare a new generation of future leaders.

The three-day conference was marked by in-depth discussions and innovative ideas that opened new horizons for participants, in addition to inspiring human connections that strengthened the spirit of cooperation and belonging. The event brought together hundreds of students from various schools in an exceptional Palestinian experience.

Bank of Palestine’s General Manager, Mr. Mahmoud Al-Shawa, expressed his pride in supporting this program, which seeks to educate participants and familiarize them with the roles and responsibilities of the United Nations General Assembly, the Security Council, the Economic and Social Council, and the United Nations Development Programme, as well as the mechanisms and decision-making processes of these bodies. This contributes to enhancing students’ knowledge, enabling them to better understand countries’ foreign policies, and explore their orientations, alliances, and agreements.

Al-Shawa emphasized that Bank of Palestine’s support for this program and similar initiatives is part of the Bank’s strategy to embrace pioneering ideas across various fields. He reaffirmed the Bank’s continued commitment to supporting initiatives that develop youth empowerment tools, encourage young people to launch innovative projects and ideas that address social challenges, and strengthen communication channels among Palestinian youth, as they represent a key driving force for sustainable development.

For her part, Friends School Principal Ms. Rania Ma’ayeh extended her sincere thanks and appreciation to Bank of Palestine for its continued support of this vital program over the years, which aims to build constructive intellectual bridges among diverse viewpoints, bring perspectives closer together, and prepare future youth leaders.

Ma’ayeh noted that the Model United Nations program serves as a leading platform for discussing global issues, analyzing their backgrounds, and developing practical solutions to various challenges through research, learning from international experiences, and familiarizing participants with UN session procedures and rules, culminating in final sessions that conclude with voting on resolutions.

During the conference, participants assumed the roles of representatives of countries and international organizations by delivering formal speeches, engaging in debates and intensive discussions, drafting key solutions and resolutions, and forming alliances that serve the interests of the countries they represented—closely simulating the real roles of politicians and diplomats.

It is worth noting that the Model United Nations program is a cultural initiative prepared and implemented by Friends School students in cooperation with other schools, with the aim of proposing solutions to high-priority global issues.
