Bank of Palestine Signs Partnership Agreement with Al-Makassed Hospital in Jerusalem to Provide Mobile Housing Units for Patients’ Companions
Bank of Palestine has signed a strategic partnership agreement with Al-Makassed Hospital in Jerusalem to provide mobile housing units for patients’ companions, ensuring them safe and dignified accommodation while accompanying their loved ones during treatment. This step reflects the Bank’s deep commitment to its social responsibility and national role in supporting the healthcare sector.
The signing ceremony took place at the Bank’s headquarters in Ramallah, attended by its General Manager, Mr. Mahmoud Al-Shawa, and the hospital’s Director General, Dr. Omar Abu Zaydeh, along with representatives from both institutions. Both parties emphasized the importance of this partnership in addressing urgent humanitarian needs that have long placed an additional burden on patients’ families.
This agreement comes as part of the Bank’s efforts to help alleviate the suffering of patients’ companions who are often required to remain for extended periods alongside their loved ones in the hospital, amid limited accommodation options and high lodging costs, factors that compound the psychological and financial challenges they face. Through this initiative, the Bank seeks to provide a humane environment that preserves the dignity of companions and eases their additional burdens.
In his remarks during the signing, Al-Shawa stated that the agreement embodies Bank of Palestine’s vision of creating sustainable developmental impact that goes beyond financial support to include qualitative initiatives addressing the community’s real needs. He stressed that supporting the healthcare sector is a priority within the Bank’s strategy, given its fundamental role in strengthening the resilience of Palestinian society, particularly in Jerusalem.
For his part, Dr. Abu Zaydeh expressed his appreciation to Bank of Palestine for this humanitarian initiative, affirming that providing housing units for patients’ companions will directly help alleviate their suffering and enhance the hospital’s ability to deliver medical services in a more integrated and humane environment. He also commended the Bank’s continued support for the healthcare sector and other vital sectors.
It is worth noting that over the past years, Bank of Palestine has continued its support for Al-Makassed Hospital, as well as many health, educational, and community institutions, by allocating a portion of its annual profits to development programs covering healthcare, higher education, and support for children, women, and youth. The Bank also supports infrastructure projects and the development of sports talents, reflecting its position as a key partner in national development and in strengthening the foundations of resilience
