Bank of Palestine, ANERA, Muna and Bassem Hishmeh Inaugurate 2nd Children Playground in Obaidiyye Village, Bethlehem

On Monday, 18 March 2013 Bank of Palestine, in conjunction with expatriate institutions and NGOs, inaugurated the 2nd recreational playground as part of the Al-Bayyara Playgrounds Project that is implemented by Bank of Palestine.  Bank of Palestine, Welfare Association, American Near East Refugee Aid (ANERA), and United Palestinian Appeal (UPA) have reached an agreement to build more than 40 recreational playgrounds for children in different parts of the West Bank and Gaza Strip. The project is in its beginning stage and the new playground in Obaidiyye north of Bethlehem has been recently inaugurated in the presence of senior officials and the public.

The first new playground of Al-Bayyara Project was inaugurated in Ein Munjid Area in Ramallah, while Obaidiyye playground is the second playground built by Bank of Palestine under the supervision and implementation of ANERA.

Al-Bayyara Playgrounds Project aims to provide safe recreational space for Palestinian children, increase green areas throughout Palestine and reduce the number of injuries and victims among children resulting from playing on roads and congested areas. The project also aims to provide work opportunities in the areas where the playgrounds are established. Moreover, recreational playgrounds are places where social relationships among people living in the same neighborhood can be enhanced and strengthened.

Initiated by Bank of Palestine, Al-Bayyara Project is one of the most important national projects with the view of establishing hundreds of playgrounds for children in Palestinian cities and rural areas. The project is carried out by Bank of Palestine in partnership with a group of Palestinian not-for-profit and expat organizations (Welfare Association, ANERA, Bassem and Muna Hishmeh, George and Ronda Salem). It aims to create more recreational space for children and help them get vitamin D which they need.
