Chairman of the Board and General Manager of Bank of Palestine Mr Hashim Al-Shawa received last week at Bank of Palestine HQ in Ramallah a delegation from the Republic of Chile headed by the Captain of Palestino Sports Club Mr Felipe Nunez. Founded by Palestinians in Chile, Palestino Club is one of the most well-known first division football clubs in the country. Bank of Palestine has sponsored the club for 2013-2014.
The meeting held in Mr Al-Shawa’s office focused on means of joint cooperation. Mr Al-Shawa underlined the importance of the visit of the Chilean delegation to Palestine, and participants stressed the importance of joint cooperation between Palestino Club and Palestinian sports clubs. Exchange of ideas and expertise was paramount to the achievement of effective joint cooperation, both Palestinian and Chilean participants said. In addition, Mr Al-Shawa discussed the possibility of supporting and further developing the teams partaking in the Bank of Palestine Football Competition for Children between 12 and 14.
Representatives of Bank of Palestine introduced during the meeting ideas relevant to social responsibility projects carried out by the Bank and the role Palestinians in the diaspora can play through contribution to and support of the different social responsibility projects, especially as Chile has the largest Palestinian community outside the Middle East.
The visit of the Chilean delegation aims to strengthen economic and sports relations between Palestinian institutions and Palestino Club, introduce the state of affairs of sports projects and institution in Palestine, and familiarize the Chilean guests with the ongoing sports projects currently carried out.
In its turn, the Chilean delegation expressed admiration for the outstanding achievements of Palestinian sports in spite of the many challenges facing the Palestinian people including the Israeli military occupation and economic stagnation. The Chilean delegation extolled the Palestinian efforts toward overcoming all challenges and difficulties.
