Bank of Palestine Named Euromoney's Best Bank for ESG 2026

Ramallah, Palestine – Bank of Palestine has been named Euromoney’s Best Bank for ESG 2026, becoming the first bank in Palestine to receive this prestigious international award. The recognition acknowledges the Bank’s leadership in embedding environmental, social and governance (ESG) principles across its corporate strategy and banking operations.

The award recognizes the Bank’s progress in integrating ESG principles into its business model throughout 2025, reinforcing its commitment to responsible banking, long-term value creation and sustainable economic development. It also reflects Bank of Palestine’s continued efforts to align its operations with internationally recognized ESG standards while delivering meaningful impact for customers, communities and the broader economy.

The recognition follows a comprehensive assessment conducted by Euromoney’s judging panel against internationally recognized ESG criteria. The evaluation highlighted the Bank’s strong performance in environmental and social initiatives, supported by a robust governance framework that promotes responsible finance, accountability and measurable progress.

Receiving the award represents another significant international milestone for Bank of Palestine and strengthens its recognition among leading regional and global financial institutions. As the first Palestinian bank to receive Euromoney’s ESG award, the achievement reflects the Bank’s long-standing commitment to making ESG a core strategic priority rather than a series of standalone initiatives.

Mahmoud Shawa, CEO of Bank of Palestine, said: “We are proud to receive this prestigious recognition from Euromoney, particularly at a time when Palestine continues to face unprecedented challenges. This achievement reflects the resilience of our institution and our unwavering commitment to advancing our ESG strategy despite a highly complex operating environment.”

He added: “ESG principles are embedded in the way we operate, make decisions and create long-term value. Today, the success of financial institutions is measured not only by financial performance, but also by their ability to generate lasting economic, social and environmental impact. This award reinforces our commitment to building a more resilient and sustainable future for Palestine.”

Bank of Palestine continues to strengthen its responsible banking model by integrating ESG considerations into its governance framework, business operations and investment decisions. Guided by the belief that the future of banking belongs to institutions capable of creating balanced economic, social and environmental value, the Bank continues to enhance its practices in line with international standards while reinforcing its position as Palestine’s leading financial institution.
