Bank of Palestine sponsors the activities for the International Awareness Month for the Early Detection of Breast Cancer in Palestine

The city of Nablus witnessed the launching of activities for the International Awareness Month for the Early Detection of Breast Cancer in Palestine, which is an important annual event that aims to protect Palestinian women from this disease. The campaign was launched through a march that set off from the premises of Bank of Palestine in Nablus, heading to the Martyrs Square in the city center, and involved the participation of hundreds of women, including officials such as His Excellency Mr. Akram Rujoob, the Governor of Nablus, and several official, popular and civil society organizations. The event turned into a huge festival that was attended by a large number of city citizens and visitors. The activities were organized by Bank of Palestine, in partnership with Dunya Women’s Cancer Center working under the umbrella of the Health Work Committees.

The activities of the campaign for the early detection of breast cancer witnessed remarkable development, whereby the number of participants increased tremendously to a point where its title was transformed to the Arab Awareness Campaign for the Early Detection of Breast Cancer, which involved the participation of dozens of Arab countries, led by Palestine, under the slogan “You complete us…check and see.”

The participants in the campaign stressed the importance of supporting Palestinian women and sponsoring the various events that support them in all fields, in addition to harnessing all possibilities to serve them. They emphasized that the day of the event is not like any other day because it delivers a joint message from every Palestinian community to Palestinian women, who form half of society and are a major partner in completing the other half. It is a message of support and loyalty, calling upon women to head to the centers without hesitation or shame and conduct an early detection of breast cancer to save themselves.

Bank of Palestine is a permanent partner of the campaign and Dunya Women’s Cancer Center in the West Bank. In Gaza, the Aid and Hope Center continues to be the main partner for spreading awareness among Palestinian women in the Strip.

The bank’s support for the joint annual Arab campaign for the early detection of breast cancer is part of it belief in the importance of safeguarding public health and its role in upbringing generations that are able to work and build, whose backbone is the Palestinian woman. During the past few years, the campaign formed an important part of an effective awareness program to free Palestine and Palestinian women from breast cancer and encourage women to conduct an early detection test. The bank’s contribution to this campaign is in line with consolidated Arab events that encourage the constant support of all activities that may contribute to supporting women and empowering them to become socially and economically able and productive. These events are also coherent with the bank’s strategy for the empowerment of Palestinian women through the Felestineya program that was launched by the bank with an aim to develop the leadership capacities of women and increase their awareness in the various economic fields.

The bank extended its gratitude to all parties who contributed to the success of this campaign and its activities, and expressed its anticipation that such events and activities that support Palestinian women in all fields will continue to be implemented. The bank thanked all the organizations that supported this campaign, especially Dunya Women’s Cancer Center, the Aid and Hope Center in Gaza, and the various official, popular and civil society organizations.
