Dr. Paul Dugrti , Lasik specialist to improve eyesight, with his team had done more than 40 free surgical treatments of Cataracts to Palestinian patients who lack medical care for this type of injuries. Bank of Palestine contributed and sponsored these surgeries.
Mr. Hashim Shawa, Chairman and General Manger, expressed his pleasures for this contribution as it has a humanitarian impact on 40 Palestinians who live in difficult conditions and can not afford to do this kind of surgery. Bank of Palestine covered travel expenses of the team from and to the US and the movement of the team inside Palestine which exceeded in total twenty thousand dollars. Mr. Shawa said that this contribution is part of the social responsibility towards our society and part of the Golden Jubilee celebration under the slogan 50 Years of Building. This assures that BOP since its establishment before 50 years is playing a vital role in development and true building of individuals and society.
Dr. Dugrti said that adequate medical treatment is one of the major elements for the prosperity and development of nations. He also added that it is the least thing that can be contributed to maintain a decent standard of living which supports growth, peace and prosperity. Moreover, He found that 55% of blindness could have been protected if appropriate treatment was provided
