As part of Al-Bayyara Playgrounds Project being carried out through the initiative of Bank of Palestine, the American Near East Refugee Aid (ANERA), Abu Falah Village Council and Bank of Palestine inaugurated the 6th playground for children Tuesday, 26 November 2013. The project, aiming to establish hundreds of recreational facilities for children in different parts of the West Bank and Gaza Strip, was launched by Bank of Palestine along with Muna and Basem Hishmeh Foundation, Welfare Association, ANERA, and United Palestinian Appeal (UPA) George and Ronda Salem.

The inauguration ceremony took place in the presence of Bank of Palestine Deputy General Manager Mr Rushdi Ghalayini, Head of Abu Fallah Village Council Mr Masoud Murra and ANERA’s Country Director Paul Butler, with the participation of a large assembly of villagers, village elders and heads of local and village councils east of Ramallah district.

For his part, Mr Ghalayini said Al-Bayyara Project aims to establish hundreds of recreational playgrounds for children in different parts in Palestine. He added the playgrounds will provide safe recreational facilities for children and reduce the number of injuries. Mr Ghalayini noted that dozens of children every year get injured or meet their death as a result of playing in populated areas in narrow and congested roads. He highlighted Bank of Palestine’s initiative to establish the playgrounds in Palestinian villages and ensure that children will no longer play in dangerous places and get hurt. The Bank has already established a playground in Ras Karkar village and is currently establishing another in Tarqumia village south of Hebron. Bank of Palestine is also planning to establish more children playgrounds in different areas in West bank districts.

Finally, Al-Bayyara Project is a national project in which all stakeholders are keen on encouraging the various Palestinian private sector firms to contribute to aiming to expand it on a larger national scale.
