Bank of Palestine donated one million Shekels to the Palestinian Ministry of Health for the purchase of vehicles to transport medical staff to the homes of patients suffering from COVID-19, in addition to providing primary care across the Palestinian governorates. This donation stems from the Bank’s belief in the importance of standing in solidarity with its people and promoting the capacities of the Ministry of Health to combat the pandemic.

This donation coincides with the increasing rise in Coronavirus cases in the various governorates, the high risk in contracting the virus among citizens and the increase of occupancy rates in public and private hospitals. The vehicles will be used to transfer medical staff to provide care for Coronavirus patients in their homes and reduce the pressure on hospitals.

The donation was announced during the visit of Mr. Mahmoud Shawa, Chief Executive Officer of Bank of Palestine; Mr. Kamel Husseini, Chief Strategic Relations and Engagements Officer; Ms. Hiba Tantash, Head of Corporate Social Responsibility; and Mr. Rabee Dwekat, Head of the Department of Institutional Communications and Public Relations at Bank of Palestine, to the Ministry of Health to meet with Her Excellency the Minister of Health, Dr. May Kaileh, Dr. Wael Al Sheikh, the General Director of the Ramallah and Al Bireh Health Directorate, and medical staff from the Ministry of Health.

This donation stems from the bank’s national and social responsibility and confirms its partnership with the public sector to serve society, avoid a major humanitarian crisis and save people’s lives. “I hope that our people will combat this ordeal to the very end, especially after the arrival of batches of vaccines and the commencement of the vaccination process across the Palestinian governorates,” stated Al Shawa.

Since the onset of the crisis, Bank of Palestine Group announced that it had dedicated all its material and moral capabilities, relationships, staff, media channels, electronic channels, and expertise in all fields, to support the efforts of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, Prime Minister Muhammed Ishtayeh, and the Palestinian government and all its constituents in confronting the pandemic, preventing its spread and providing resources in support of the social safety network for sectors that were affected by the pandemic.
